Honoring My Chosen Family
Taylor B., 33, Minneapolis
My friendships are sacred. They’ve always been the most stable, affirming relationships in my life – the kind of love I can count on. As I’ve grown and shifted over the past few years, I’ve felt a new pull in me: a craving for more depth. Not because anything is wrong, but because I’ve evolved.
I don’t just want surface-level catch-ups. I want conversations that feel expansive, real, and soul-feeding. And I know my friends want that too. Many of us are on our own healing or spiritual paths – we send each other voice notes, memes about boundaries, even pull tarot cards together sometimes. Still, I often wonder: could we be even more open? Could we name more of what we mean, and love each other even more intentionally?
I never want to force anything. But I also don’t want to ignore the part of me that longs for more reflection, more honesty, more language for the love we already share. My friendships are my chosen family, and I want to honor them the way they deserve.
One night, while scrolling Instagram, I came across a reel of two friends laughing and tearing up as they pulled a card from a deck called Everything Unsaid. The vibe was tender, intentional, real. I saved it immediately.
A few days later, I was hosting a cozy friend night – candles, tea, music, and that kind of conversation that flows easily. As we were talking, I remembered the deck. I pulled it up again and went to the site. The design felt beautiful. The language was warm, clear, grounded. It felt like something we wouldn’t just use, but love.
That night, I ordered it. Not because anything was broken. But because our friendships are strong enough to go even deeper. It wasn’t about fixing – it was about honoring. Honoring the relationships that hold me. Giving them even more space to grow.
And to me, that feels like the truest gift I could give the people I love.
✨ Stories like Taylor’s remind us that friendships can be chosen family – and that deepening them is an act of care.
